Short answer
AI can explain banking terms, but it should not handle your bank login, transfer decisions, PIN, card number, or security codes. Be especially careful with urgent calls or messages about your account.
The biggest danger
A scammer may claim your money is unsafe and tell you to transfer it to protect it. The FTC imposter scam advice (opens in a new tab) warns that anyone who says you must quickly move money to protect it is a scammer.
Safe banking rule
If a message says it is from your bank, do not click the link. Open the official bank app yourself or call the number on your card.
What AI can help with
AI can explain a general term like “interest rate,” “minimum payment,” or “statement balance.” It should not see your full account details.
Before moving money
Pause. Call the bank through a trusted number. Ask a trusted family member or advisor. Never move money because of one urgent call, email, or chat.
